    parents by train arriving 3 Jul 1888. Transcript in file from a Walla Walla,
    WA, newspaper 28 Dec 1923. Ira had lived in Lowden for about 3 years, coming
    from Ritter, OR. He died at the home of J. E. Gallaher, 315 South Third St.,
    at 1:55 p. m., after an illness of two months with dropsy. Survived by same
    children as in obituary of spouse, plus six brothers and two sisters; Mrs. Eva
    Brinkley, Alaska; Ora Arbogast, Central Point, OR; Era and Roy Arbogast, Pasco;

    her parents, brother James, and sister Annie, by covered wagon from Kansas,
    starting 22 Apr 1883, and arriving at Helix, OR, in October. Further details
    in file. Transcript of her obituary in file from a Pendleton, OR, newspaper of
    14 Jun 1950. Addie's parents lived on a ranch between Holdman and Stanfield,
    then known as Foster, OR. Following her marriage to Ira, they ranched in
    Umatilla and Grant Counties, OR. Member of United Bretheren Church and Rebekah
    Lodge of Echo. Surviving sons and daughters are: Evert R. Arbogast, Elgin;
    Ernest H. H. Arbogast, Pilot Rock; Elmer L. Arbogast, Dale; Mrs. Edna F.
    Mulkins, Hermiston; Mrs. Edith I. Lesman, Milwaukie; Frank O. Arbogast, La
    Grande; Mrs. Alice A. Burnette, Irrigon; M. Ira Arbogast, Ukiah. Another son,
    Ethan S. Arbogast died at 18 months. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Annie
    Warren, Chesaw, WA; 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

    • Military: One Hundred and Twenty-Second Illinois Infantry; participated in the siege of Vicksburg, the battles of Chattanooga and Kenesaw Mountain and many other battles and skirmishes in the Civil War, being under General Logan, and with Sherman in his famous march to the sea. He was severely wounded in the battle of Kenesaw Mountain and languished in the hospital for four months. After serving four years with great credit to himself and good to his country, he received an honorable discharge,

    Extract of a newspaper article, probably a Saybrook, IL, paper, telling of the
    reunion of all of William's 7 sons in 1906 or 1907. They had not been together
    since 1861. It was held on New Years Day at the farm of Enos, one mile west of
    Saybrook. A second gathering was held at the home of John L. on Jan 4th.
