    Notes:

    From the, Clinton, IL, Observer, 10 Feb 1982. Sherman is a descendant of one
    of the oldest pioneer families of DeWitt Co., IL, and is now actively engaged
    in the manufacture of brick, tile, cement, etc. His plant is located at Farmer
    City, IL, one of the most important industries here. He was born about one and
    one half miles northwest of Farmer City. An older brother, Amos L. Arbogast
    learned the trade, and with another younger brother, all three worked together.

    From the, Clinton, IL, Observer, 10 Feb 1982. Daniel was one of DeWitt Co.,
    IL, well known businessmen, living at Farmer City, just outside the city. He
    was born on a farm near Mechanicsburg, OH. He came to IL with his parents in
    1839. His parents acquired a farm near Parnell.

    History of De Witt County, Illinois, 1882, W. R. Brink & Co. Daniel was in
    his 12th year when he came to De Witt Co. with his parents. Farmer, stockman
    and manufacturer of brick. Children listed in order of birth, and spouse where
    known.

    Kankakee at the time Daniel attained majority. He was farming at the time.
    Minerva's parents were John Adam Grenade and Catherine (Johnson) Payne.
    Minerva was only six months old when her parents moved to Vermillion County,
    IL, where her father established and operated a tan yard for many years. He
    then moved to Will County, now Kankakee County, IL. Catherine (Johnson) Payne
    is a cousin to President Andrew Johnson.
