1880 census Vol. 32, E.D. 108, Sheet 7, line 32. George age 41 born OH,
Sarah, Wife age 33 born OH, Merta daughter, age 11 born OH and Gurna, son age 3
born OH. According to Roremary Pickett notes from "The History of Hardin Co.,
OH" Warner, Beers & Co, Chicago, 1883, there were 3 children, 2 living, Gurney
and Leander, Charlie is deceased.

According to Rosemary's extract of the Hardin Co. History, George was one year
old when his parents came to Roundhead Twp. He recieved only a limited
education and enlisted in G Company, 4th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861 and
served 4 years and 21 days. Taken prisoner at Spottsylvania Court House, VA on
12 May 1864 he was sent to Andesonville Prison, Georgia where he remained until
1 Mar 1865. He was unable to walk due to being so worn and starved. He was
honorably discharged at Annapolis, Maryland on 21 Jun 1865. After the war he
finished his apprenticeship in carpentry and was engaged in contracting and
building with good success. In 1873 he bought a farm of 40 acres and was
clearing the land at his leisure, having cleared 30 acres by 1883.

George married Sarah A. Warren on 8 May 1873 in Hardin Co., Oh. Sarah was born on 8 Oct 1845 in Logan Co., Oh; died on 17 Jun 1930 in Roundhead, Roundhead Twp., Hardin Co., Oh; was buried in Roundhead Cem., Roundhead, Oh. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Information from Mildred Arbogast of Lakeview, OH, in file. Sarah had a
daughter from a previous marriage named Myrtle. She was born 1 May 1869 in
Logan Co., OH, died 9 Jun 1941, buried at Bellefontaine, OH, and married
Charlie Rhodes on 16 Apr 1886.

Notes:

From ROSEMARY PICKETT PAPERS. Pleasant Hill Cemetery is between Alger and
Houndhead Village in Hardin Co., OH. According to Rosemary's extract from "The
History of Hardin Co., OH" by Warner & Beers, Chicago, Solomon was as early
settler of Roundhead Twp. settling on Scioto Marsh where he farmed and then in
the Bowdle settlement. They then lived in Roundhead Village where he was
involved in teaming until his death. Member of the Society of the Bowdle Church
which was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He and Mary had four
sons and five daughters, seven living in 1883, four in Roundhead Village.

Solomon married Mary Barrington on 20 Oct 1834 in Champaign Co., Oh. Mary was born about 1810 in Va; died on 25 Nov 1879 in Roundhead Vill., Hardin Co., Oh; was buried in Pleasant Hill Cm, Hardin Co., Oh. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
