John was a farmer. He served three years during the Civil War, was wounded in
the leg by a bullet. His only brother, Joel, was killed in the War. The
family cemetery has a monument erected with all the names listed thereon of
those buried there, including Solomon, his wife, and John and his wife.John married Dianah Nottingham on 25 Apr 1861 in Pocahontas Co., Va/Wv.
