  Information from records of Barbara (Coleman) Dove of San Antonio, TX, in file. C Co., 15th Rgt., Volunteer Infantry, Union Army, 10 Aug 1862. Chest wound at Battle of Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas, and lay on the ground for three days until found by Confederate troops and taken to Libby Prison at Richmond, VA. He was discharged 30 Apr 1865. John was substantially disabled from his wound for life. After migrating to Oklahoma, he helped establish the town of Glencoe.
