  From family records of Merle Arbogast Chorba of New Vernon, New Jersey, daughter of Dr. Hoyt Bailey Arbogast. Brown McLaurin, also known as B.M. was local manager for Pocahontas Development Co., a surveyor and commissioner of school lands. The family lived in Marlinton, Pocahontas Co. Announcement of a Silver Wedding Anniversary Reception at the couple's home on Saturday evening December, 12, 1896 at Marlinton, WV. Ref: WBH; dates on this family from his Bible that daughters Daisy, then Brownie had. Died in Pulaski VA, at home of daughter Brownie; death recorded in Pocahontas also. (FYD: I have noticed several duplications of vital statistics in Pocahontas records. I believe that people brought them in to be recorded in the home county, even when the event occurred elsewhere.) He went to school at McDowell, VA to William R. McNeer, a Methodist minister. Later he taught at Top of Allegheny and Glade Hill. Moved to Marlinton and bought the Andrew McLaughlin home when Andrew moved to Maxwellton.
