Lois indicates Charles, or Bud, as he was called by everyone, and his wife, Ruth, moved to the family farm from Calgary in 1951 to help his dad and gradually took over its operation. In 1974, Bud and Ruth sold the property, which by that time had grown to four sections of land including leased holdings, and retired to Hanna, Alberta, Canada, where Ruth is still residing in 1994.
