Edward A Inkpen History



Edward Archibald Inkpen's parents were Edward Ronald and Jessie Beasley Inkpen . Ed was born in Somerville Massuchusetts USA in July 17,1926. He was the first one in his family to be born in the United State. Edward was proud to be an American and He served in the military for 20 years. When he turned eighteen he volunteered to be in the army, in July of 1944, He fought in the European Theatre of WWII and He was a bazooka gunner. One night Ed was on guard duty and he got cought sleeping while on duty. So they threw him in the stockade and he could have been shoot. Luckily for him they where looking for men to fight in the Rhine river crossing in germany. They told him it would be dangerous crossing the Rhine river, they would be under heavey air and artillery fire. They said if he would valunteered to fight in the Rhine river crossing they would release him, so he agreed to do it. Ed met a nice German girl, when he was in Germany. Ed was sent state side so he left with out his girl friend. He was going to send for her but he found that she met some one else while he was gone. When Ed reenlisted he switched to the Air Force but he lost the rank he occurred when he was in WWII. Ed met Patty at a roller rink she was rollerskating with sisters. Ed asked her out but she didn't seem interested. So he wouldn't take no for an answer. So he asked her sister for Pats number. They dated for a while and then Edward married Patricia Headley. Ed got stationed in germany after they were married. They lived there for a couple years and then they were stationed back in the United States. They had 6 kids ,4 sons and 2 daughters. Ed loved baseball and his favorite team was the Boston Red Sox. Ed use to say an old soldiers never dies he just fade away. He faded away on Feb. 16,1998 at the age of 72 and he was buried in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, Santa county, New Mexico USA. Plot 9,0,3539
