Eva Amy Arbogast Obituary

Mrs. W.S. Binkley Dead.

With deep regret the people of Wrangell on Monday received the news of the death of Mrs. W.S. Binkley who passed away in Juneau where she had gone for medical treatment about two weeks before her death. She was accompanied to Juneau by her dauther, Mrs. C.A. Lloyd. After a few days she seemed so much better that Mrs. Lloyd returned to Wrangell leaving her mother under the care of physicians. Death was pronounced due to dropsy of the heart.

The remains were brought from Juneau on the Northwestern. The funeral will be held from the Catholic church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the last rites being deferred until the arrival of Paul Binkley from Karheen.

Mrs. Binkley was born in Lacygne, Lynn county, Kansas, in 1870 and was therefore 57 years of age. Her maiden name was Eva Arbogast. At the age of 17 she came west with her family, who settled in Pendleton, Oregon. A year later she was married to W. S. Binkley, who was also born in the same town, and his grandfather performed the ceremony where her parents were married.
The Binkley family came to Alaska eleven years ago, and to Wrangell ten years ago. For the past four years they have resided on Farm Island.

Mrs. Binkley was a woman with a big heart of which outward manifestations were the very smallest part. She was a good neighbor and took a lively interest in the activities of the American Legion Auxillary and the Parent-Teacher Association.

Mrs. Binkley is survived by her husband and six children, and fourteen grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Sadie Merritt of Stanley, Idaho, Loyal Binkley of Wrangell, Paul Binkley of Karheen, Alaska, Mrs. Chester A Lloyd, Mrs. Arthur Mortiz and Albert Binkley or Wrangell.
