- From "Our Family, The Colaws of Virginia and Points West" by Shirley Jeanee
(Colaw) Howell of Sumter, SC, includes marriage date and place and spouse
noting that they were both 19 when married. From G. H.-In 1860 & 70 Ann is
living with with her parents but no record of George, however he have info.
when son, Franklin, died in Oct. 1860. By 1880 she is living with Henry
Bennett . 1833/34, s/o Elijah Bennett and Barbara Bible. Henry had married
1853 Mary Nelson but she appears to have left him before 1860. Some of Ann's
children likely belong to Henry but all are listed as Day in census. The Henry
B. Bennett who married in 1894 may be their son. There were no other Henry
Bennetts at that time. No other marriage records found for this Bennett/Day
family nor are they found in 1900 census of North Fork. Children are Franklin
b. 1857, Adaline b. 1859, Jane E.B. b. 1862, Lorenzo D. b. 1865 and married
1889 Jennie (Virginia) E. Whitecotton d/o Noah - their child is Phebe M.,
Charles b. 1869, Floyd b. 1873, Zernie b. 1974, Henry B. b. 1876 amd marr. (?)
1894 Martha Custis/Custard, and Artie b. 1880.
