Additional information from "Our Family, The Colaws of Virginia and Points West" by Shirley Jeanee (Colaw) Howell on year of birth of Mary Ann, marriage bond dated 9 Oct 1847, 1850 census for North Fork Hills, Pendleton Co. and 1860 census for Mouth of Seneca, Pendleton Co. 1850 census includes Michael, Mary Ann, Frances and Emily. Also in household is Edith Ketterman Arbogast age 50, Michael's mother, Isaac Hinkle age 68, Christina Waybright age 8, and Amos C. Waybright age 6. 1860 census includes only Edith Ketterman Arbogast age 65, Michael Henkle age 85, Christina Waybright age 17, Cain Helmick age 27, and Jason Harper age 37. From the data above and notes under Michael it would appear that Michael and Mary Ann went to Iowa shortly after the 1850 census. Michael drove the oxe and wagon west from Iowa in 1853. Since his mother Edith Ketterman Arbogast was still in Pendleton Co. in 1860, it appears she joined her sons family in Iowa after 1860.
