Notes - From family group record by Amanda Arbogast Forbes. Jesse went to Fayette
Co., OH after death of mother and later went to Lawrence Co., MO where he was
killed in 1854. Named in Fayette Co., OH deed in 1839.
From, Leaves From The Gum Tree, 1984, by Muriel Martens Hoffman, records land
sales in Virginia during the mid 1820's. Jessee followed his brother, Jacob
and sister Nelly (Gum) Jenkins to Fayette Co., OH. They were there for the
1830 census. A number of other Virginia families are also recorded there in
1830, ie, Dunkles, Claypools, Fisher (Flesher), Jenkins, etc. Jesse married in
1832. Shortly after signing the deed to dispose of his mother's land, he
migrated to Barry Co., MO, along with John Dunkle, his brother-in-law, and
possibly others. Jessee filed for patent lands in Barry Co. in Nov. and Dec.
1839. Barry Co. became part of Dade Co. in 1842, which mergerd into Lawrence
Co. in 1845. According to family stories, Jesse was killed by guerilla raiders
in the border fights before Kansas became a state. Children, their spouse and
descendants fromt this book. Credits in the book are to Edrie M. Graham of St.
