Soldier in G Co., 31st Virginia Regiment, CSA. Enlisted at Green Bank on 17
Mar 1862. Taken prisoner at Cross Keys 9 Jun 1862, exchanged and returned to
service. Wounded 12 May 1864 at Battle of Spottsylvania Court House and wounded
again at Chancellorsville. He was later captured at Ft. Steadman near
Pertersburg on 25 Mar 1865. Imprisoned at Point Lookout, MD and released after
the war. Served in State Legislature and was Special Agent for National
Land Office during the Cleveland Administration, stationed at Cheyenne, Wyoming.
