History of George S. Daniel
George Sidney Daniel was born at his father's farm two miles north of Danieltown. He was a farmer and he and 'Ella' lived just a few hundred yards west of present-day Danieltown. Their land came right up to the road intersection at Danieltown, and Ella and her son, Marvin, lived in the house at the intersection during the last fiew years of their lives. George and Ella were charter members of New Hope Christian Church.George was bequeathed this farm by his mother, although he probably was living there when she died in 1892.
George lived some sixty-five years and died ofa heart attack at this farm near Danieltown. He was buried in the family cemetery on the 'old place' where his brother was living at the time and where George was born and raised. His estate was appraised by J. W. McDowell, James Pryor Daniel and Benjamin Childs Elmore on 27 nov 1917.
George had a respectable estate and his stock holdings included stock in the "Bank of Alberta," "Bankers Trust Company of Norfolk," and "Alberta Hardware company." His son, Ashton, was administrator of his estate.Ella lived until 1932 and was buried at New Hope Christian Church Cemetary at Danieltown. The 'Daniel Cemetery' where george was burried was no long being used for burials. George and Ella had nine children. They were all born near Deailtown in Brunswick County, VA.
