The Siege of Yorktown
Michael and his son's David, Adam and John were there.
The Siege of Yorktown in 1781 was a victory shared between American forces led by General George Washington and French forces led by the Comte de Rochambeau over the British Army commanded by Lieutenant General Lord Cornwallis. It was the last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War.
The French and American armies united during the summer of 1781 and began to move south toward Virginia, while deceiving the British that a siege of New York was planned. By late September, Washington and Rochambeaus' forces completely surrounded Cornwallis at Yorktown.
British defenses crumbled within weeks and final surrender took place on October 19th, 1781
The Roster of Captain Peter Hull's Company of Cavalry of Virginia in the Yorktown Campaign, lists the elder Michael Arbogast and his sons, David, Adam and John Arbogast.
