Ref: WBH; dates on this family from his Bible that daughters Daisy, then Brownie had. Died in Pulaski VA, at home of daughter Brownie; death recorded in Pocahontas also. (FYD: I have noticed several duplications of vital statistics in Pocahontas records. I believe that people brought them in to be recorded in the home county, even when the event occurred elsewhere.) He went to school at McDowell, VA to William R. McNeer, a Methodist minister. Later he taught at Top of Allegheny and Glade Hill. Moved to Marlinton and bought the Andrew McLaughlin home when Andrew moved to Maxwellton. |

Wounded 12 May 1864 at Battle of Spottsylvania Court House and wounded again at Chancellorsville. He was later captured at Ft. Steadman near Pertersburg on 25 Mar 1865. Imprisoned at Point Lookout, MD and released after the war. Served in State Legislature and was Special Agent for National Land Office during the Cleveland Administration, stationed at Cheyenne, Wyoming. the war.
