This site is on a ridge between Big and Little Beechy Creeks in Pleasant Twp., Clay Co., WV, formerly Nicholas Co. The George Washington Arbogast homestead is on the next ridge down the Elk River (same side), between Little and Big Sycamore Creeks. Following the death of their father, Michael, these two brothers apparently followed the nearby headwaters of the Elk River, down to this location, then Nicholas Co., or Braxton Co.,VA, sometime during the period 1842-1847.
